READ THE BEST POETRY www.thebestpoetry.com
If you have taken this challenge, then you are in for a treat. It used to be,
as often in classrooms everywhere, the only good poet was a dead poet. Now we
do study and enjoy a variety of living poets.
However, it is still true that the literary establishment as often leads us to
believe that the only good poets are those whom they have selected! Others are
marginalized or ignored.
Ah, and that is where I come in… After years of writing and some fancy
credentials and accomplishments (see
my CV), fame still eludes me! So now I leave it up to you.
You came seeking THE BEST POETRY, and I don't think I will disappoint you. I am going to give you my poetry. All of it! It's yours. Read it. I believe you will enjoy it. It is the work of a lifetime--seventeen books so far, written over forty years. And it is yours free! I will be adding to this website until I have entered every poem I have written. I will cross-reference the poems by theme, subject matter, by any means that might help you find poems you think are The Best. And I believe I can compete with the masters!
Of the hundreds of poems that appear, I am sure you will find some worthy.
Poems should have a life of their own. Having birthed them, I want them to
travel, to see the world. Take them with you and give them a home!
If you find a poem you like, or better think is truly The Best, it is yours. I ask only that, in taking it, using it, giving it, you credit it to me: David B. Axelrod. I would appreciate your letting me know where it will appear &/or in what way you will use it.
I would be happy to hear from you. Email me at axelrodthepoet@yahoo.com or
write me at P.O. Box 2344, Selden, NY 11784.
You can certainly read more about poetry and get what I hope is useful
information from my website: http://www.poetrydoctor.org
You can also watch me reading some poems at: http://www.poetryvlog.com/daxelrod.html [Note: at least one of my books is still actively for sale by it's publisher and hence, not yet given here: The Impossibility of Dreams. There's a link to the left to purchase books...]
And now I challenge you to read: THE BEST POETRY
